Review: Holes by Louis Sachar

I liked the movie very much. I remember the first time I saw the movie. I was into sci-fi and action movie at the time but I just stumbled upon it and enjoyed it. So when I saw the book when I went to book sale I just snatched it from the person who was stacking the book. Lol! He was looking at me like I've lost my mind. And the book was even more awesome!!! This edition have some movie pictures which I didn't knew and saw when I got home. They are cool!!

Synopsis

Stanley Yelnats is under a curse. A curse that began with his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather and has since followed generations of Yelnatses. Now Stanley has been unjustly sent to a boys’ detention center, Camp Green Lake, where the boys build character by spending all day, every day digging holes exactly five feet wide and five feet deep. There is no lake at Camp Green Lake. But there are an awful lot of holes.

It doesn’t take long for Stanley to realize there’s more than character improvement going on at Camp Green Lake. The boys are digging holes because the warden is looking for something. But what could be buried under a dried-up lake? Stanley tries to dig up the truth in this inventive and darkly humorous tale of crime and punishment—and redemption.

I liked this book very much and I knew I would cuz I enjoyed the movie. I watched the movie one or two years ago and I liked it! And that is why I picked the book up!
The plot line is cool and how everything in the end came around I liked it! I liked the two stories going in the past and present written simultaneously and how it get tied up in the end. It felt like all the holes got filled up :P
I definitely recommend reading this book and watching the movie as well.
