Synopsis

Stay on guard. Be aware of your surroundings. Notice the nuances. Cover your tracks. Always be prepared. Question everything. This is how you stay alive, Joy. And this is how you keep the ones you love alive.

Sixteen-year-old Joy Montgomery, daughter of Zephyr the Magnificent, the great magician, can only reminisce of better times. Before the Superiors. Before the uprisings. Long ago. Before the dying Earth ripped the family she loved away from her.
In this desolate dystopian future, the Greenleigh orphans are “privileged” with the task of building mechanical trees for Bygonne, so their world behind The Wall can breathe another day, and so the Superiors may continue their malevolent reign.
Lured by a yearning for freedom, tenacious curiosity, and hunger for adventure, Joy discovers hope and magic amid the misery, and power in her promise to care for those remaining, whom she loves enough to risk her life for. To save them, herself, and the boy she adores from the abuse and slavery by the Superiors, Joy must entrust the aid of an unlikely ally who harbors a dangerous secret.
With an intriguing stranger at the helm, Joy and the treemakers embark on an intense and terrifying, yet liberating quest for the truth about the existence of the forbidden paradise beyond The Wall.

My Review

The Treemakers (The Treemakers Trilogy Book 1)The Treemakers by Christina L. Rozelle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow This book is really awesome!! It's my type of book and can't wait to know how everything pans out next in the second book and whole series.
I love Joy, she is a strong character and then smudge she is my fav character. At first I thought the story is Dystopian, well it is but with a touch of sci-fi; my two top fav genres!!
The story is divided in two parts first working in bygones and making trees. All the workers are children Joy being the oldest; sixteen year old and living all big family. I loved their bond and friendship and how they survived through hardships.
Then the second part when they were free from the grips of Superiors in bygones and were free. But living their whole life underground and not knowing anything about outside world just things what they heard or were told. But venturing out of their prison life, without knowing the dangers lurking and hoping to get their lives better than hell like prison.
This story is cool!! A definitely must read!

  Title: The Soultakers

Author: Christina L. Rozelle

Series: The Treemakers #2

GR

Synopsis

“What a journey you have been on, Joy Montgomery. But it isn’t over yet . . . . No . . . I’m afraid you have much farther to go.”

Joy Montgomery is a hero. The Treemakers are finally home, safe and free in a well-deserved and long dreamed of paradise. The children can now settle into normal, carefree lives. Or so they thought.
Troubled by secrets their newfound paradise reveals, coupled with tangled feelings toward those she loves, Joy sees the painful truth: they’re still prisoners forever wounded by the effects of a traumatic past. An ominous warning from a trusted friend strengthens her resolve to never let down her guard, to always be prepared, to be ready for war . . . both inside and out.
Once again, the Treemakers are faced with escaping disaster, and Joy’s strength is pushed to its limit, her sanity pushed to the brink of collapse. Just when their situation couldn’t get any more desperate, they’re thrust into a series of shocking tribulations that are nothing short of nightmarish.
Will the Treemakers of Greenleigh annihilate the forces of evil that seek to capture and control their souls? Or will the magic Joy thought she found turn out to be just another illusion?

This is the second book in the Treemakers Trilogy. This series is intended for mature YA audiences, as there are certain mature themes (abuse, character deaths, etc.,) which may be too emotionally intense for younger readers.

The Soultakers (The Treemakers, #2)The Soultakers by Christina L. Rozelle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing sequel to amazing book. I enjoyed this book very much! If you haven't read the first book definitely check it out cuz it is just AMAZING!
Oh my god the situation in Zentao had me holding my breath. Dang the problems that happened one after one had me on edge. And even though after them being safe I was a little suspicious if something will pop up. You can't be sure when things will take a serious turn.
The writing of Christina L. Rozelle is amazing. I've been waiting for this book when I read The Treemakers when it was released. It was awesome and am looking forward for the third and the last book. I'm so excited to know more secrets and how the book is going to climax.
An awesome dystopian sc-fi read. Got the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
